Watching the Winter Olympics and seeing all of the athletes performing in dangerous, high speed sports, always gets me thinking about their journey. The struggles, accidents, adversity, lack of support, funding, high and lows they have experienced before stepping onto the podium and receiving that medal. And, if you don't receive that medal, is doing the sport you love and representing your country enough of an achievement?

In the workplace, I love talking to people and finding out about their journey before they joined Core Talent..it’s always interesting to find out why they chose to work for Core Talent?

One story sticks in my mind.  One of the consultant explained their journey to me.

They had been in a global agency for 5 very enjoyable and successful years and then moved to a start up, the other end of the recruitment spectrum.

They knew It was time to embark on a new challenge, but they decided that wherever they went to next, it was going to be the place where they would firmly establish a fulfilling & rewarding “long term” career.

They did not want to return to the ‘big boys’ of recruitment and the associated feeling of being a small cog in a juggernaught of a machine that will keep on moving regardless of whether you were there or not.

Neither did they want the risk of working for a relatively new business that hadn’t established a presence in the local market place.

A great commission scheme? This wasn’t the number one priority, as they had been a high earner wherever they had worked.

High on the agenda was finding a business where they could genuinely make a real difference. They wanted  to work for a company that would allow them to bring new ideas to the table, bring about change for the better and ultimately play an integral part in a journey that would see the business prosper and reach it’s own goals.

But what was the number one priority???

It came down to a single word……..TRUST.

They wanted to work for a business that had their staff’s best interest at heart, that valued honesty in it’s dealings with its staff, candidates and clients. Above all else, they wanted to work for trustworthy people that were true to their word.

3 years, they said they had found that business.

They have exceeded the placements and gained the financial rewards, but most importantly they have laid the foundations that have enabled them to develop a team and plan for future growth.

Core Talent have made major investments within training, business support & marketing and have set an ambitious target for further improvements over the next few years.

Knowing our world, being open and honest as well as being driven to deliver are the pillars in which our business is built. This is evident from the top down and reflects in the reputation that we have with all our Clients, Candidates and employees.

The consultant said the years have flown by, the business has grown from strength to strength and following the appointment of a Non Executive Director, the business is being taken to the next level.

There has never been a more exciting time to join us with opportunities available for both experienced consultants and graduates looking to embark on a career in recruitment.
